A life lesson from my mother about facing the mountains in your life…

Are you facing some “mountains” in your life? I was in South Africa earlier this week for some speaking appointments and envisioning for Europe, and I took a couple of days to connect with my dear mom. I asked her to share a “life lesson” with us, and I really think that this 3-minute video will be a blessing to you. The video had 2,000 views in 24 hrs on my Facebook page, and over 50 comments! (I think she should start a Youtube channel!)

Watch it below…

Who is Jesus to you, today?

Luke 9:18–20 One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am? 19 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other ancient prophets risen from the dead.” 20 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah sent from God!”

aWord4u2Day: When you give what you have got…

Here’s more from our devotional journey through the book of Luke which I’ve been doing since April this year… This is no 90 in the series!  Full Playlist of these devotionals HERE on Youtube.

Luke 9v 10-17
10 When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11 but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, ‘Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.’

13 He replied, ‘You give them something to eat.’

They answered, ‘We have only five loaves of bread and two fish – unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.’ 14 (About five thousand men were there.)

But he said to his disciples, ‘Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.’ 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Storm Proof Your Life!

This morning a massive storm blew through London right during rush hour, causing major travel disruption.  Our garden fence was blown over in part, and I saw multiple trees that had blown over into roads, and then there was this one…

Matt 7 v24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

As a pastor, unfortunately I get to see too many lives being “blown over” when the storms of life hit, simply because they haven’t invested in building their lives on the rock through “hearing and doing”. many can’t “do” because they haven’t positioned themselves to “hear.”   If you want to storm-proof your life, I recommend the following:

  1. Do the “One-2-One” book with someone – to understand the fundamentals of your faith walk.
  2. Do the “Purple Book” with someone, or on your own is ok too – to lay biblical foundations for your faith
  3. Enrol for our Every Nation London Bible School, now on in Stratford and Slough, and also in Hammersmith starting Monday 4 November – to grow in faith and fruitfulness.   (Just go along to any of these locations, and see if this is just what you need in this season).

Nothing will ever guarantee us a storm-free life, but these here will certainly strengthen and storm-proof your life.

aWord4u2Day: Travel Light!

  • Luke 9V 2 …and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal those who were ill. He told them: ‘Take nothing for the journey — no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.
  • Matthew 6:33 33  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Application: Is there something you know that you need to let go of or leave behind today, because its keeping you back from following Jesus? Just do it and trust Him – He satisfies completely, but you have to “leave so you can cleave”

Prayer: Lord, Thank you that you gave your ALL for me. Help me not to trust in the stuff of this world on my journey of obeying you. Today I choose to let go of al other things I trust in. I’m following you…

Press through in faith today!

A devotion from Luke 8v40-56

v45 ‘Who touched me?’ Jesus asked.  … v48 Then he said to her,‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’

aWord4u2Day: Tell your story…

Christians, we all have a story – a testimony. Todays devotion encourages us to tell what Jesus has done for us. Do it with S.A.L.T.:

  • S = Start a conversation
  • A = Ask questions
  • L = Listen
  • T = Tell your story about what Jesus has done in your life

Luke 8v39  “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.”So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
