These Daily Devotionals are awesome!

I am so enjoying the daily devotionals that Ali is sending out for our 40 days of #GoCampus2017 prayer initiative! You can read today’s below, extracted from Mark Batterson’s Circle Maker, and you can get the rest of these too by signing up here for free,
Be inspired, strengthened and stretched and at the same time be used powerfully in prayer as we trust together “To share the amazing life-changing message of Jesus with more students than ever before” this next academic year.
Here’s today’s from Ali:
DAY EIGHT DEVOTIONAL THEME: ONE GOD IDEA

Job 12:8 “Speak to the earth, and it will teach you.”

One God-idea is worth more than a thousand good ideas.

At the turn of the twentieth century George Washington Carver helped solve an agricultural problem in the south of America. The problem was depleted soil from continuous cotton planting; the solution was the concept of crop rotation and he specifically encouraged the farmers to plant peanuts instead of cotton. This solved the soil problem but not the economy problem as there was no market for peanuts. Carver went back to God in his regular 4.00 am meetings, walking in the woods and asking Him to reveal the mysteries of nature. Job 12:7-8 was one of the most circled promises in his Bible.

Job 12:7-8
But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.

God answered his prayer. Carver is famous for discovering more than three hundred uses for the peanut. The genesis of those revelations was a conversation with God who gave scientific insight and revelation which led to the discovery of all these uses of the peanut. These discoveries were not good ideas they were God ideas. Good ideas are good, but only God-ideas change the course of history.

Like with Carver, God ideas are given when we spend time in God’s presence and allow Him to reveal His plans and revelations to us. Prayer is the difference between the best we can do and the best God can do. In these instances the Holy Spirit will do the heavy lifting and will reveal things that can only be discovered in the presence of God, giving us God ideas for our ministry, family, business and for our lives. When we come into the presence of God, we also get perspective of our problems and it allows us to see that God is bigger than our problems.

How big is your God? Is He big enough to heal your marriage or heal your child? Is He bigger than negative evaluation or a bad result or your worst sin, greatest fear or biggest dream? If He is bigger than all of those things, then pray like it.

One God-idea is worth more than a thousand good ideas.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOCUS:
  • Pray for creative God solutions for all areas of our lives, on our uni campuses and in every sphere of society.
  • Pray for God to be present in all areas of our lives and not compartmentalised to the area of worship and religion.
  • Pray for an understanding how big God is and where we are positioned in Him and for us to exercise our God-given authority to walk in victory and bring Godly order in a chaotic world.

Thanks for praying with us for #GoCampus2017!

In Dublin and Belfast…

Ali and I were in Dublin this past weekend to celebrate the 15th year of our church plant there, and we were super encouraged! Then off to Belfast to visit with our latest European church plant leaders. A weekend packed with teaching, rich connecting, fantastic views and weather, and crowned with some powerful inspiration from St Patrick. I’ll let these pics tell the story…

And finally, here’s some food for thought about “catching something good this week…”  here.

An awesome encounter in Krakow!

A week ago I was in Krakow Poland on the final day of our annual Every Nation Europe Leadership Summit, with 268 leaders from all across Europe and beyond attending. Wow, what a highlight! The spirit faith and hope was incredible and I came away super encouraged. God has done so much, and He can do it again!

Pastor Jim Laffoon encouraged us to “see what is (what God is doing) and not what was.” and I certainly see a change of the tide coming on the campuses and in the nations of Europe.

I did this Facebook live stream on the final evening here, and here are a few pictures to tell the story… GO EUROPE! (By the way, current plans are for the 2018 Europe conference to be in London, 13-15 April 2018! – save the date and be there!Continue reading “An awesome encounter in Krakow!”

When in Japan… some pics

Last week Ali and I went further east that we’ve ever been – to Japan! It’s my 37th nation visited, and we were there for our annual Every nation International Apostolic Team summit. I also had the privilege of speaking at our EN Tokyo church, and the Japan Leaders conference in Yokohama. I’ll let the pictures tell the story…

Have a Fruitful and Productive week

At Every Nation London we have a God-dream this year, which is to “share the amazing life-changing message of Jesus with more people than ever before, both individually and as a church.”  (You can listen to me sharing our Vision Focus here.)vision-focus-2017

I have personally decided that I don’t want to teach or encourage anything that I am not personally living out. It’s easy to theorise on sharing the gospel, but that often leads to those listening to us being discouraged because their reality doesn’t match our theory. So let’s GO and live it… and tell what happened.
BEING FRUITFUL: Here are 3 “As we GO” thoughts for the week for you to live and pass on to others you lead, influence and disciple:

5 Threats to the Vision

Vision has the potential to be a very powerful thing. But it’s not an easy thing to execute.

January is over. How’s the vision you or your organisation had for this year going?

Recently I have been doing a fair amount of processing about vision, because at Every Nation London we have just had our annual “Vision Focus Sunday” where we share what the elders and pastors sense that the Spirit is saying to the church for the next season. It’s not a new mission (because we are very clear about that), but a focus on a particular area that is on God’s heart for us to move His mission forward through the church.

Casting a clear and compelling vision is one role a leader cannot delegate, and fulfilling a vision is something no leader can do on their own. Envisioning people is a great skill that ultimately gets everyone on board owning the vision as if it was their own.

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision, and make it clear, so that those who read it, will run with it. – Habakkuk 2:2

But once a clear and compelling vision is cast, I have noticed that there are at least 5 great threats to vision becoming reality: Continue reading “5 Threats to the Vision”
