Be inspired, strengthened and stretched and at the same time be used powerfully in prayer as we trust together “To share the amazing life-changing message of Jesus with more students than ever before” this next academic year.
Here’s today’s from Ali:
DAY EIGHT DEVOTIONAL THEME: ONE GOD IDEA

Job 12:8 “Speak to the earth, and it will teach you.”

One God-idea is worth more than a thousand good ideas.

At the turn of the twentieth century George Washington Carver helped solve an agricultural problem in the south of America. The problem was depleted soil from continuous cotton planting; the solution was the concept of crop rotation and he specifically encouraged the farmers to plant peanuts instead of cotton. This solved the soil problem but not the economy problem as there was no market for peanuts. Carver went back to God in his regular 4.00 am meetings, walking in the woods and asking Him to reveal the mysteries of nature. Job 12:7-8 was one of the most circled promises in his Bible.

Job 12:7-8
But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.

God answered his prayer. Carver is famous for discovering more than three hundred uses for the peanut. The genesis of those revelations was a conversation with God who gave scientific insight and revelation which led to the discovery of all these uses of the peanut. These discoveries were not good ideas they were God ideas. Good ideas are good, but only God-ideas change the course of history.

Like with Carver, God ideas are given when we spend time in God’s presence and allow Him to reveal His plans and revelations to us. Prayer is the difference between the best we can do and the best God can do. In these instances the Holy Spirit will do the heavy lifting and will reveal things that can only be discovered in the presence of God, giving us God ideas for our ministry, family, business and for our lives. When we come into the presence of God, we also get perspective of our problems and it allows us to see that God is bigger than our problems.

How big is your God? Is He big enough to heal your marriage or heal your child? Is He bigger than negative evaluation or a bad result or your worst sin, greatest fear or biggest dream? If He is bigger than all of those things, then pray like it.

One God-idea is worth more than a thousand good ideas.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOCUS:
  • Pray for creative God solutions for all areas of our lives, on our uni campuses and in every sphere of society.
  • Pray for God to be present in all areas of our lives and not compartmentalised to the area of worship and religion.
  • Pray for an understanding how big God is and where we are positioned in Him and for us to exercise our God-given authority to walk in victory and bring Godly order in a chaotic world.

Thanks for praying with us for #GoCampus2017!
