Knock Knock. Before you open, its wise to make sure that you know who’s at your door. Screen Shot 2016-01-24 at 07.59.20Also, before you don’t open for someone, make sure you know who it is, so you don’t miss out on what they have for you. Jesus comes to you and everyone and says “Knock knock.”…  “I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (In Revelation 3:20)

We relate to others according to what we know and believe about them. The same is true with God. What you know and believe about Him will determine how you relate to Him. Whether you run TO Him, or FROM Him. Whether you open the door to Him, or keep it shut to keep Him out of your life.

How can you know Him? What is He like? Why should I open the door to Him? In John 10:9-10 Jesus introduces Himself, and here you can see three clear things that you need to know about Him:

When you say “who’s there” He replies “I AM” – this is a direct claim to be God, and this sent the religious teachers into a frenzy, accusing Jesus of blasphemy because he “claimed to be God.” God is at your door, so let Him in!

What does He have? Salvation (“sozo”), Life (“zoe”), and “pastures” – everything your heart truly desires is with Him at your door, so let Him in!

And before you think there is an alternative, He claims that He is THE door, not just A door. He is THE way, THE truth, THE life, and no-one comes to the Father except through Him. Radically exclusive (only through Jesus), but also radically inclusive (Anyone can come. All who are weary, thirsty, lost, etc)

And Jesus also warns you that He is not the only one at your door. The devil is also at your door, to steal, kill and destroy. Don’t let the devil in, and don’t give him a key!

Now if you’re curious, here’s more about the One knocking at your door… please know Him, and let Him in!
