Yesterday we ended our Heroes preaching series which started at the beginning of October. For these 8 weeks we’ve been looking at what we can learn about faith from the men & woman who are listed in Hebrews chapter 11 as examples of faith.  I must say, for me this series has been so timely, and seems to have delivered so much more than we even expected.

Here’s a summary of the Heroes & their faith:

1. ABEL– his faith will teach you how to be “righteous” by offering the only sacrifice appropriate for your biggest problem: sin… This truth will set you free from trying to work for your salvation, rather than receiving it by faith…
2. ENOCH – His faith shows you that you too can please God – without this revelation of faith you will never truly experience “the joy of your salvation”
3. NOAH – His faith shows anyone who has found the amazing grace of God how to respond: By faith build something which saves others…
4. ABRAHAM – He shows us what it means to follow God’s call by faith – to come out of where you are, and enter in to what God has called you to…
5. SARAH – She was the barren one, first doing whatever she could to make it happen in her own strength, but then discovers how to recieve divine strength (Greek: Dunamis) to birth Gods promise…
6. ISAAC, JACOB & JOSEPH – each of these had extraordinary faith stories of their own, but what ties them together is their faith to live not just for themselves, but for the generations coming after them. This message will inspire you to life beyond yourself so that your “bones” wont end up buried in the desert – but still carried by the next generations 40+ years after you’ve gone…
7. MOSES – His example challenges us to get out of our safe “palaces” and encounter Gods radical call. In my message I show the kind of faith it takes to make truly life-changing and life-choosing choices… your New Years resolutions will never be the same again!
8. RAHAB – OK, so whats this prostitutes name doing in this list of faith heroes? That’s exactly Gods point: Don’t let anyone or anything tell you that you can’t be the hero you are called to be. No matter what your past, your name is destined to be in Gods Book – make sure it gets there by faith in Christ Jesus!
