A call to pray for London
As you are well aware, many parts of London are in chaos as violence and looting are breaking out in many parts of our great city. The events over the past few days have exposed a seething mass of anger and dysfunction hidden below the veneer of our deeply troubled Godless society.
Lets respond in Prayer:
This verse from Jeremiah 29:7 was part of our vision focus for this year, urging us to “…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
- Pray against the spirit of violence and destruction
- Pray against the spirit of fear
- Pray for the government, police, all emergency services
- Pray for something amazing to happen in the fabric of many communities as they stand together in this time.
- Pray for the conviction of sin of those who are doing evil.
- Pray for the underlying issues of this outrage to be identified those this, and for those in authority to respond to the real “issues of the heart”.
- Pray that we would be able to “love our enemies”, and that no root of bitterness will destroy even more people than the riots have destroyed property.
- Pray that many seeking peace in these troubled times will find it in the only Prince of Peace – Jesus Christ our Lord and our Saviour.
Some Prayer Opportunities:
- Tonight (Tuesday), 19.30 Prayer meeting with other churches at St Paul’s Hammersmith, off the Hammersmith Broadway
- Tomorrow evening (Wednesday) 19.00 – 20.00, at the Hop Holes Pub, across from Lyric Square in Hammersmith Kings Road. We will use the first hour of our ACTivate Wednesday to pray for London, and see how the Lord leads for the rest of the evening.
- Prayer together where you are. We realize that many will not be able to travel, but can I urge you to get together with someone, even by phone, and pray in agreement.
Our God is an awesome God, and greater things are yet to come in this city!
Making Disciples. Making a Difference.

Hi Wolfi,
I have been thinking and praying for you and your church at this time in London. May God grant you grace to change atmospheres and to release God’s righteousness, love and peace wherever you are. Love from the other London.
Thank Nigel – prayer is changing things!
