Today is Day 3 of our ACTivate adventure – Reading, Praying & Doing A.C.T.S for the 28 days up till Pentecost Sunday: If you haven’t yet done so, read Acts Chapter 3 here, and then the devotional thought below…
Stopping as you go…
Where chapter 2 started with the disciples “sitting”, this chapter starts with the disciples “stopping as they go.”
Spiritual living includes being sensitive and attentive to the needs and opportunities all along the journey of our daily lives, and to surrender our personal agenda’s in order for God to use us as we go through our daily routines. Peter & John where on their way to the temple for the prayer meeting, and if they were like most Christians, they were running late! They had a meeting to get to. They were in a hurry. They had appointments to keep. Important things to do…
But they stopped. And then it was miracle time. How many miracles to do rush past each day? How many opportunities do we miss where the Holy Spirit wants to use us to encourage someone, to pray for someone, to share the Good News of Jesus with someone?
For our Spiritual Lives to affect our world, we need to be willing to “stop as we go.”
Here’s a great promise for you today:
2 Cor 2: 14-16 In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.
So be ready to STOP today, and see what God may be up to on your way…
P.S. – Peter and John were obviously late for the prayer meeting that day, but what an awesome testimony they would have had to tell the others when they got there! Don’t forget the “S” for our A.C.T.S. adventure is for “share your story”… at Connect Groups, at Sunday services, as a comment here… STOP to encourage us!
