This final LoveLife message (Part 8 of  8 ) is entitled “Endless Love,” as we ask: Where do we find the love we are really looking for? Where do we find a Love that doesn’t END, and love that doesn’t get LESS with time and the pressures of life, but love that fully satisfies and lasts forever, and ever increases… where we truly life ‘happily ever after”?

Our text is from Song of Solomon 8:6-7, and she says… Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.

Here we find the woman still longing for something more than what she’s had. She’d been on the bed, had the passion and experienced the pain of relationship. She’s walked the aisle and tasted the fruit of their garden in every way. Great sex. Great relationship. A man who came out of the wilderness… She’s had it all, but still she needs and wants more… She wants a “sealed love.” A seal is literally a ring. She is saying: “Put a ring on it!” Covenant with me. One night stands just wont do. Infatuation won’t do. Sex doesn’t seal it like I need it sealed. Don’t just romp & romance with me. I want more than that.

In my message which you can watch on video below, I take us to the final verse of the Song of Songs, and compare that to the very end of the Bible, and argue that “the mystery of marriage” (and all our other relationship longings and expressions), are a glimpse of the deeper longing we have for our Creator to “put a seal on us” with His love.

Yes, Song of Songs is about two lovers and their relationship joys and challenges, but it’s also much more than that: Its our story in the Greater story. Its our hearts crying out to the Great Creator Lover: Seal me! Love me! Answer the eternity cry of my heart and assure me that I will be yours forever. And He answers: I have loved you with an everlasting love. So much that I gave My very self for you, to die for you on the cross. To take away your sins. If you will only believe (not just with your head, but with your whole being), I give you the gift of ENDLESS ETERNAL LIFE!

Just like pornography and masturbation are cheap substitutes for the real thing, so even marriage is only a shadow of the greater love that we are looking for…  There is something in us that simply will not be satisfied by the best we can find in this world: A man can’t give it; A woman can’t give it. Religion won’t do. Only relationship with our Creator will do, because  “In the presence of the Lord is fullness of joy, at His right hand are pleasures forever..”

The woman at the well: One woman who experienced this was the one Jesus met at a well, as recorded in John chapter 4. She’s had loads of sex with at least a half-dozen guys…(5 husbands and now living with a guy).  But she still hasn’t found what she is looking for. She still has a question: Where can I get that living water? Jesus ends up saying: “I am He”… She’s run after lovers… now the Great Lover is coming after her. She met a real Man who’s love completely changes her!

This is what the apostle calls “The Mystery of Marriage”, and the book of Revelation says in Ch19v7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
