I found this great p.o.r.n site…

A statistic is what tells you that if your head is in the oven, and your feet are in the fridge, you are living at a reasonable temperature!

If the stats on p.o.r.n.o.graphy viewing among Christians and Christian leaders are anywhere near accurate, then the “temperature” in the church is definitely not lukewarm – Maybe this is the REAL cause of Global warming!

Personally, I figured out long ago that any p o r n images I looked at messed up my head way too much.   I never had much exposure (excuse the pun) to p.o.r.n when young, except for a few incidents at boarding school – there was some advantage of growing up in a no traffic light town and in the pre-cyberspace age!

Of course, we all (men and women) face the same onslaught of temptations now, but I can honestly say that I have come to see prn (another pun?) for what it really is: Not a fulfillment, but a degrading of the one looking as much as the one being looked at.  In our sex-crazed-everything-available-at-the-click-of-a-button-world both men and women are being robbed of something very very precious through an ever increasing exposure and addiction to pornography.  Its a real battle, but there is help – in the form of “The world’s number 1 Christian Porn site.”      Here’s a quote from the site:

“Does Jesus really love porn stars? Absolutely. Now that may go against what you thought about Jesus, but it is true. You see Jesus loves porn stars as much as he loves pastors, soccer moms, liars, thieves, and prostitutes. In his eyes, we are all the same. We’re all just people in need of a Savior, who can come into our world and fix our messed up lives. The Bible says that we have all screwed up. Whether you’re making porn, working at Starbucks, or running a church, we are all sinners. And despite this fact, Jesus really, really loves us. He is not angry with us. He is not too busy for us. He isn’t waiting for us to get our crap together. He just says come. Come now. Check out what I have for you. A life that is greater then you could ever imagine.”

What do you think about that?  Anyway, if you do need/want help/advice, or know someone who does, do check it out  “the worlds #1 Christian Porn Site”   (www.xxxchurch.com) and take a step to freedom.  Remember, nothing will change if you dont change anything, so be bold.

Here are some of my personal “porn habits” which have helped me:

  1. I have made a clear decision that porn is not in the “grey” area, but its wrong. It messes with my mind & my marriage. Its Sin. Full stop. That helps with the decision, and with repentance.
  2. I have made a commitment to my wife to tell her if I look at anything
  3. I am committed to be fully accountable to my closest friend
  4. I have my church leadership group (The “Fatboys” – because we meet every second Saturday at a greasy breakfast joint called “Fatboys”), to whom I am completely comfortable being “naked & unashamed” to if necessary.
  5.  I close my eyes (and don’t peep) when a sexy scene comes up in an otherwise OK movie/TV program
  6. I switch channels or walk out of movies when it becomes evident that my eyes are going to be closed often in the movie!
  7. I “bounce my eyes” from sexy or porn images I come across of magazine covers, newsstands, inappropriate TV/movie scenes, etc. I am committed to a reaction time under 2 seconds – anything more is lust and imprints in the mind.
  8. I make sure that my mind is filled with good stuff like a Creator praise song and some Scripture truth which I can “think on” to displace any thoughts/images that want to slip in.

This is not a formula, but just a few things that have helped me and have worked so far for many years and I believe I’m the better man, husband, father, leader, preacher, counselor for it. Pray that I may not fall into the temptations that abound.  They are always close. If you have had a different experience, remember that Jesus forgives 70X70 times, daily if necessary. Refuse, Resist, Run – and if that all hasn’t worked, then REPENT and trust the Holy Spirit to help you try again.  As the website says: Porn Sucks…  Pursue Holiness and find true happiness…

PS – I’m thinking of having a “Porn Sunday” at church sometime…if the stats are accurate, it should be very relevant…and HOT!

  1. I’m reading “Every Man’s Battle” at the moment. Good book and challenging too. Can’t believe I haven’t read it before.

Title may be controversial 😉 but Amen to taking a gutsy stand and giving good, godly answers to the questions and problems of the world. Also to give people hope that Jesus can set you free, and it’s actually not true that “well everybody does it anyway and you can’t really ever win”.

  2. If you have a job that involves you being at a computer a lot, (or you have one at home that you’d like to make more ‘secure’), and you enjoyed points 1-8, then can I suggest a helpful point 9.

A while ago I found a useful bit of free software written by a Christian called ProCon Latte. (That’s the name of the software, not the name of the Christian… ) It’s tiny, and installs into FireFox, the best browser available. I never found anything acceptable for Microsoft IE unfortunately, but to save your computer and sanity, use FireFox instead.

It’s pretty subtle, and quietly prevents your browser loading pages on a ‘blacklist’, or containing stuff it thinks is obscene. You can set it all up, add any pages you particularly want to avoid, or white-list any pages you know are ok. I had to add Wolfi’s blog site to the whitelist – it prevented me reading it at first with all those references to porn!

Anyway, if this sounds useful… go here:-

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1803

Install it – it’s tiny. Run it, restart firefox, configure it in “Tools, Add-Ons”. Tick all the “password” options it gives you. Then set a password – type half of it yourself, and get your best buddy to type the other half. That meanes it takes both you and your buddy to be present if you find the filter is being over-picky. (eg Wolfi’s blog!).

  3. Edd told me about the ministry of xxxchurch.com a few months ago. I think it’s about time that Christians started engaging the world in radical, yet uncompromising ways. The guys who put together the website actually set up booths at porn conventions as they try to minister to porn stars and porn fans alike. Very inspiring stuff!
